Going Green

Green Touch

Green Touch
Is Going Green the next stage or the next gen tech? It has been quite a while now most the firms thinks and plans for green techs. The future of technology is changing into something very different. In every technical aspect people are looking for improving efficiency and at the same time looking to reduce costs. People lose sight of what of future. When it comes to cost savings and efficiency, they tend to lean towards the darker side.
Green Touch
Currently most of the technical firms who deal with Information and Telecommunication industries are looking to reduce the carbon footprint. Companies like Bell Labs and ALU (Alcatel Lucent) have formed a consortium called GREENTOUCH to focus on these kinds of issues. Virtualization gives solution to such issues only to an extent. They are trying to improve the network efficiency by a factor of 1000.

                 Cloud Computing

The new tech that Alcatel in coalition with Bells Labs formed was named Bit – Interleaving Passive Optical Network otherwise known asBi – PON. This tech reduces the power consumption to a reasonable magnitude.

Build Your Own Device

Imagination or Innovation

It all starts with an idea. Innovation is a part of human life. You come up with many ideas in a day that gives meaning to you and other people also. Extend of innovation has come to a point where reality and imagination are almost the same. During the school days we all were asked to come up with something innovative for our project. We used to bring models of solar system that might rotate in an axis, or volcanoes that erupt with a mixture of chemicals. During the teenage years one of the fascinations for anyone was music. So to listen to it in high volume we needed speakers. So the first thing that I created was speaker from scratch materials. It cannot be considered as invention but it certainly was innovation from household materials. We all are compelled to do such things at least once in our life.
When it comes to innovation the only face you think about is of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple. He had single handedly revolutionized the technology industry. A touch screen hand held device was by far we all could ever imagine.
Alcatel – Lucent also tried to revolutionize the business. One of the concepts they tried to evolve was “Bring Your Own Device”. The catch phrase that became a trend was “Build Your Own Destiny”. Alcatel-Lucent provides the support were the boundaries were defied.
This is how BYOD actually takes place.
To be part of the business world you shouldn’t have boundaries. Whether it is network or apps or anything else the connectivity should remain. So Alcatel came up with one of the solutions were you can just bring your iPad, iPhone or any Tablets and connect it with server and stay connected always. It is as easy as it sounds.
Architecture integration

• Industry-standard 19-in. rack-based appliance server or blade server
• Embedded virtualization technology
• Open SIP-communication architecture

Communication technology - Unified Communication

Communication is a word from Latin origin “communis”, which means “to share”.  The communication industry has changed a lot since the 1990’s.
I still remember the good old days when I had to send mail through post office to get my messages to my dad. It took weeks of waiting and anticipation to know if the mail had reached or not. Then there were telephones which were not available in all parts of the world. So to talk to my dad I used to go to my relative’s house and wait for the Telecom guys to book the trunk call. The waiting time usually would surpass two to three hours. If I was lucky enough, then only I was able to talk clearly but most of the times the operator used to say “the lines are busy, Please try again later”. From the point where the technology were limited to the present fingertip technology has brought about vast changes where people from one part of the world can communicate to the other part with less effort.

The video below shows the history of communication

Alcatel Lucent and Unified Communication

The motto that Alcatel – Lucent devised for Unified Communication was   “Collaborate more effectively. Anywhere”.  Alcatel integrates seven applications whose functions are to conferencing and collaboration, Automated Message Delivery system, Fax, video conferencing etc. and all can be accessed from the Alcatel-Lucent Phone. The video below shows how the application handles everything in your phone.

The Role of Open Network Architecture

·         In order for managed Unified Communication to address the needs of the enterprise, it is important to rely on an open network architecture that supports:

·         Fixed and mobile environments, so that end users’ mobile and office devices have a consistent set of telephony services and can work with applications across both mobile and Internet Protocol networks.

·         Internet Protocol and legacy environments to ease smooth migration to an Internet Protocol network

·         Premises and public environments so that employees are able to communicate, regardless of whether they are inside or outside of their enterprise domain

·         Independent network applications offering separate services, with the openness to support communication capabilities available on any UC and web communication client applications.
